Data from the ultraviolet spectrometer on the Mariner 9 Mars orbiter have been used to measure the strong stellar lines of Si iii lambda1300, Si iv lambda1400, and C iv lambda1550. The C iv equivalent widths appear to be in good agreement with preliminary OAO-2 results; however, the Mariner 9 Si iv equivalent widths for B1 stars appear to be smaller by a factor of approx.0.7.
