DETERMINATION OF CHLORIDE IN BERYLLIUM METAL BY X-RAY FLUORESCENCE

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4149924
X-ray fluorescent analysis was applied to the determination of microgram quantities of chloride in beryllium metal powder. This application is preferable to wet-chemistry applications because of the speed and simplicity of analysis. Evaluation of the method consisted of pipetting a standard chloride solution on beryllium metal powder, drying, pressing into pellets, and analyzing. Analysis of standards containing from 250 to 2000 mu g of chloride per gram of beryllium gave an absolute limit of error (0.95) of plus or minus 54 mu g. At the mean level of 865 mu g, the percent limit of error was plus or minus 6.2%. (auth)
