BEVATRON EXPERIENCE WITH A HOMOGENEOUS LUMINESCENT CHAMBER

Results and observations based on experience with a luminescent chamber at the Bevatron are reported. A luminescent chamber system was used in the pion beams over a period of five months. The space resolution, track information, and noise characteristic of the track photographs presented are marginal for reliable physics experiments. However, with increasing availability of the newer components, the luminescent chamber is ready to be seriously employed as a useful research tool. (W.D.M.)
