EFFECT OF A PION-PION SCATTERING RESONACE ON LOW ENERGY PION-NUCLEON SCATTERING

From the analytic properties of the pion-nucleon scattering amplitude postulated by Mandelstam, a fixed momentum transfer dispersion relation was derived in the energy variable which should be valid at low energies. This formulation allows the evaluation of the effect of a two-pion scattering resonnnce on pion-nucleon scattering. By a suitable choice of the pion-pion resonance parameters it was possible to fit both the experimenial pionnucleon phase shifts and the nucleon electronnagnetic forra factors. (auth)
