Determination of isotopic ratios of uranium by a thermoionizing method (in Japanese)

Journal Article · · Bunseki Kagaku (Japan Analyst)
A thermoionizing method was applied to the determination of isotopic ratios or uranium. It was confirmed that the double-collector method (compensation method) is more accurate and more practical than the single- collector method. The accuracy of the former is plus or minus 0.2%, while that of the latter is plus or minus 0.6%. Both uranyl nitrate {UO₂(NO₃)₂} and uranyl chloride (UO₂Cl₂) can be used as uranium sample for the determination, although it is desirable to use the same salt in a series of experiments. The current of ionization filament and vaporization filament must be held constant in a series of experiments. The same ionization case must be used to compare the isotopic ratios of uranium. The time required for a measurement is about 60 approximates 90 minutes. (auth)
