DUCTILE CERAMICS. Final Report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4144904
A fundamental study of the mechanical behavior of cerantic materials is reported. The main objective of this study was to establish the basic reasons for the brittleness generally associated with such materials. Efforts were made to determine whether or not ceramic materials are inherently brittle and if not, whether a sufficient amount of plasticity could be imparted to such normally brittle solids to make them useful for structural engineering applications.
