The permissible concentrations of radioactive fission products in air and water were determined, using as a basis the concentrations of radioactive nuclides in air and water judged permissible by the International Commission on Radiological Protection. The calculations were carried out for the following critical organs: the whole body, bones, gastrointestinal tract, and lungs. The neutroninduced radioisotopes and the isotopes of bomb materials present in fallout were considered. Under consideration of the contamination of the biosphere arising as a result of nuclear test explosions and the resulting radiation effects on man, permissible concentrations of radioactive fallout products in air, drinking water, and the principal foods were given.
