S>Since eluting solutions used for the removal and refining of uranium are recycled, the resins absorb not only sulfate ion but also chloride ion or nitrate ion. The influence of sulfate ion and chloride ion or nitrate ion on strongly basic anion resins was studied. The results obtained are as follows: (1) the equilibrium curves showed an S shape in the range of low values of SO/sub 4//UO/sub 2/ and an upward convex shape in high values of SO/sub 4//UC/sub 2/. The equilibrium curves were described by an equation in the range SO/sub 4//UC/ sub 2/>87; (2) an optimum operational condition of the removal and refining of uranium in the ion exchange colunm was found as follows: pH = 3.0 approximately 4.5, SC/sup 2-//sub 4/ concn. (as SO/sub 4//UO/sub 2/ mole ratio) >39 and UO/sub 2/SO/sub 4/ concn. = 2.0 approximately 4.0 g/l; and (3) the characteristic values of Cl-SO/sub 4/ mixed ion and NO/sub 3/-SO/sub 4/ mixed ion forms of the resins could be evaluated by equations given in the text.
