THE URANIUM-MOLYBDENUM EQUILIBRIUM DIAGRAM BELOW 900 C

The U--Mo equilibrium diagram was determined up to 19 wt.% Mo and below 900 deg C. The eutectoid transformation beta in equilibrium alpha + gamma was located at 639 plus or minus 5 deg C. The lirait of the beta + gamma field was placed at 4.5 wt.% Mo at the eutectoid temperature. The gamma phase underwent a eutectoid transformation at 10.5 wt.% Mo and 565 plus or minus 5 deg C, to alpha + delta . The tetragonsl structure of the delta phase was confirmed, with c/sub 0/ = 9.854 A, a/sub 0/ = 3.417 A, and c/a = 2.876. It is considered probable that the delta phase is formed by a congruent transformation. (auth)
