DETERMINATION OF THE DEUTERON D WAVE FROM COHERENT $pi$$sup 0$ PHOTOPRODUCTION

The differential cross section for the elastic photoproduction of mesons( pi /sup 0/) in deuterium was measured for an incident gamma energy of 500 Mev to determine the deuteron D wave function. It is found that the D wave in the deuteron ground state is (7.5 plus or minus 0.6)%. (C.E.S.)
