SHAPE OF BETA SPECTRA OF ONCE-FORBIDDEN TRANSITIONS IN THE DECAYS OF $sup 170$Tm $sup 186$Re AND $sup 188$Re

The spectra of the 1/sup -/ yields 2/sup +/ BETA groups in the decays of Tm/sup 170/, Re/sup 186/ and Re/sup 188/ were investigated using the BETA electron coincidence technique. It was found that these BETA groups have long comparative half-lives and allowed shapes. On the assumption that the xi - approximation in the BETA - gamma directional correlation should be valid when the BETA spectrum has an allowed shape, it is proved that the 884 and 937-kev BETA groups in the decays of Tm/sup 170/ and Re/sup 186/, respectively, are first forbidden transitions but have allowed shape.
