STATIC THREE-BODY NUCLEAR FORCES

A Chew-Low formalism is constructed for the system of three fixed nucleons interacting with symmetric pseudoscalar mesons. The three-body force between fixed nucleons resulting from the exchange of two pions is calculated and agrees with the result of Fujita and Miyazawa. The offdiagonal matrix elements of the potential are calculated. These are important to the description of the structure of the three-body system. (auth)
