PROTON-PROTON BREMSSTRAHLUNG AND THE OFF-ENERGY-SHELL BEHAVIOR OF THE p-p INTERACTION

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
The cross section for proton-proton bremsstrahlung at 160-Mev incident energy is calculated using the Yale and the Brueckner-- Gammel-- Thaler phenomenological nucleonnucleon potentials. The cross section depends strongly on the off-energy shell behavior of the T matrix for these potentials. Results for these two potentials differ by a factor of two to three, indicating that bremsstrahlung experiments should be able to distinguish between them. (auth)
