INVESTIGATION OF HIGH TEMPERATURE RESISTING MATERIALS AS UNCOOLED NOZZLES IN A LIQUID ROCKET ENGINE

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4137146
Materials were evaluated for use in uncoated rocketmotor nozzle components. A rocket engine was employed which was rated at 300 lb thrust snd 300 psia chamber pressure. Red fuming nitric acid and unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine were used as propellants. Samples tested were graphite, zirconium boride, titanium boride, fused silica, and two proprietary refractories. Performance data are included. (J.R.D.)
