Stray radiation near a water phantom during irradiation with a light- stabilized x-ray tube (in German)

Conference ·
OSTI ID:4135675
The measurements show that the 6 cm aluminium shield specified as an addition to the water phantom by the regulations for radiation protection control for radiation protection measurements on light-stabilized X-ray equipment may be substituted for with equivalent results by a 3.5 mm copper shield or a 5.5 mm iron shield. Comparative measurements, with a 30 cm water phantom and comparisons with stray radiation measurements on X-ray instruments with fluorescent screens (90 kV, 3 m A) show that additional absorber shields of only 4 cm aluminium or 2.5 mm copper or 3.5 mm iron are sufficient to provide a satisfactory control of the light-stabilized X-ray equipment.
