A gas-chromatographic method for measuring ths surface area of powders in the range 0.005 to 14.2 m/sup 2//g is dedescribed. The method is based on gas adsorption measurements in a continuously flowing system in which nitrogen acts as the adsorbing gas and helium as the carrier gas. (C.J.G.)
