INHOUR--AN IBM-7090 CODE FOR THE COMPUTATION OF THE ROOTS OF THE IN-HOUR EQUATION

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4134150

A computer program that solves for the roots of the inhour equation using, as input, mean prompt neutron generation time, reactivity in the form of dollars, and as many as twenty delayed neutron groups is described. The program uses Newton's method to determine the roots with an optional convergence criterion. Parametric studies of the roots and residues associated with a solution of the time dependent reactor kinetics equations for a step input of reactivity are included. The studies are treated individually for four mean prompt neutron generation times and six delayed neutron groups. Also included is a study of the numerically largest root of the inhour equation with 15 delayed neutron groups and positive reactivity as input. The program listing is given. (auth)
