A fluorescimetric method for the determination of ruthenium uses the tris(5-methyl-1,10-phenanthroline)ruthenium(II) complex. With this method 1 gamma per ml of ruthenium can be determined with no interference from 25 gamma per ml of osmium. The useful range of concentration is 0.3 to 2.0 gamma per ml of ruthenium with an average accuracy of gamma 2%. The other platinum metals do not interfere. Iron is a serious interference. (auth)
