C$sup 13$ SPLITTINGS IN FLUORINE MAGNETIC RESONANCE SPECTRA

Magnetic resonance spectra were recorded for two systems with fluorine bonded to an Sp/sup 2/ hybridized carbon atom: acetylfluoride and hexafluorobenzene. On both sides of the main fluorine resonance signal there were two weak incompletely resolved multiplets due to the C/sup 13/ splitting. The separation of these centers was measured and taken as the spin-spin coupling constant J/sub C//sup 13/-F. The value found was 362 cps. (M.C.G.)
