A DETERMINATION OF THE MELTING POINT OF ELEMENT 43 (TECHNETIUM)

Journal Article · · Nature
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1038/188048a0· OSTI ID:4133566
The melting point of technetium was determined by melting it under argon in a tungsten tube resistor furnace. The quantity of metal was not sufficient for the direct observation of melting, but after heating to 2150 deg C the metal had not melted, whereas after heating to 2250 deg C the powder had melted. Therefore the melting point was taken as 2200 plus or minus 50 deg C. (M.C.G.)
