SUNLIGHT AS A FACTOR INFLUENCING THE THICKNESS OF EPIDERMIS

Measurements of epidermal thickness were made on 28 human volunteers. Shortening of rete ridges was found in exposed white skin but was not seen in unexposed skin nor in Negroes. Differences in epidermal thickness related to age, sex, complexion, or variation in sunlight exposure were not statistically significant. (P.C.H.)
