Low-frequency mechanical damping measurements were made to investigate internal friction in Al-Fe alloys. The atomic ordering of the Al-Fe system strongly influenced the stress-induced ordering internal friction. Magnetoelastic damping was encountered and was shown to be reduced by the application of a static stress. (auth)
