Gas turbine HTGR for economical dry cooling or high-efficiency combined cycle

Conference ·
OSTI ID:4129558
The Gas Turbine High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (GT- HTGR) makes use of a helium-cooled graphite core to provide hot helium to a closed-cycle gas turbine power conversion system which operates on the reactor coolant helium. The helium gas turbines drive conventional electric generators to produce the electric output of the plant. The High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTGR) core, which is also used in the GT-HTGR, has been developed for commercial application in large central stations with a steam turbine-generator. (auth)
