FUEL ELEMENT WITH BURNABLE POISON WITHIN THE CLADDING

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4129239
A nuclear fuel element is proposed, in which the cladding encasing the fissionable material contains 200 to 1000 ppm of natural boron. The boron is homogeneously distributed throughout the cladding and acts as a burnable poison to control long-term excess reactivity. (A.G.W.)
