EFFECTS OF ANNEALING ON RADIATION-INDUCED LATTICE VACANCIES IN NATURAL GRAPHITE CRYSTALS
>Boron was introduced into graphite crystals as a substitutional impurity, and the crystals were cleaved. Examination by electron microscopy revealed the presence of numerous disk-shaped artifacts showing strong stacking- fault contrast. The disks were formed only if radiation damage was present. Annealing studies show the products of boron interaction with radiation damage prevent complete annealing of the crystals even at very high temperatures. (D.C.W.)
