BS>It is assumed that magnetic toroids that on emergence to the solar surface can be lead to chromospheric flares, can accelerate relativistic electrons. On this assumption, the theory of the radiating electron is used to calculate the concentration of relativistic electrons necessary to give the observed gamma -ray flux at the earth's surface. If the linear dimensions of the region of such electrons are approximates 10/sup 7/ cm and H approximates 500 G, the concentration should be approximates 10/sup 2/ cm/sup -3/ for electron energies 10/sup 10/ ev and approximates 104 cm/sup -9/ for 10/sup 9/ ev.
