CONTROL ROD CALIBRATION AND XENON POISONING STUDIES AT THE LPTR

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4123097

>Experimental and digital computer code investigations of xenon poisoning are discussed. A technique for control rod calibration as the fission product poisoning builds up to an equilibrium value during reactor operation is presented, and experimental results obtained with an intermediatepower research reactor (LPTR) are included. Results of point-reactor poisoning codes are given in graphical form. The curves illustrate the effect of varying fission yields and neutron-absorption cross sections upon fission-product poisoning values before and after shutdown of a reactor. (auth)
