A plant layout for a homogeneous reactor system is described which has improved biological shielding and which provides limited access for maintenance personnel during reactor operation. The reactor equipment is grouped and shielded according to the radiation levels, and nonradioactive operating controls and instrumentation are enclosed for ready maintenance during operation. Means is also provided for quickly replacing some of the equipment for service in a hot cell. (D.L.C.)
