THE BEHAVIOUR OF CESIUM IN THE FIXATION OF FISSION PRODUCTS IN A GLASS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4121859
In the process of incorporating waste fission products in nepheline syenite glass, up to 60% of the cesium may be volatilied. It was shown that this loss can be reduced to a fraction of 1% by covering the mix of fission products and glass-forming material with a layer of nepheline syenite or calcium silicate 1 to 2 cm thick. The extent of the loss was shown to vary with the depth of this cover. (auth)
