Various methods are used to study the problems raised by the contact of niobium, molybdenum and rhenium with graphite at high temperature, and the extent to which these materials can be used to sheathe thermocouples intended for temperature measurements in graphite is assessed. In the case of inconel the role of tungsten and titanium as protective coating is investigated. (FR)
