In view of the lack of suitable brazing alloys, several hundred different binary and ternary alloys were investigated specifically for joining Nb. Ten of the most promising alloys were evaluated through thermal cycling and aging tests and mechanical shear strength determinations. The results indicate that the alloy compositions, 48 Ti--48 Zr--4 Be and 75 Zr--19 Nb--6 Be (wt%), are particularly promising for a wide variety of joining operations on Nb. (P.C.H.)
