A simple sensitive geiger counter for scanning chromatograms (a simple radiochromatogram scanner)

Journal Article · · Analytical Biochemistry
A simple, sensitive, yet versatile Geiger counter for scanning paper chromatograms was developed. The device may be operated either as a windowless detector for maximum sensitivity or with ultra thin windows to maintain a high level of sensitivity yet minimize contamination problems for routine work. Easily constructed Geiger flow-through tubes having very similar operating characteristics are described. The device was designed to provide maximum sensitivity and versatility at low cost.
