ON THE TRANSMISSION FUNCTION OF NEUTRON CHOPPERS WITH STRAIGHT SLITS

The transmission function is derived for neutron choppers having straight slits by means of geometrical considerations. Misalignment manifests itself in the shape of the transmission curve, and the measured shape permits to locate and estimate any error in alignment. The results of the calculations are verified experimentally. (auth)
