STRONTIUM STUDIES
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4119419
Results are reviewed from a number of studies on the biological effects of radioactive strontium in laboratory animals and man. Data are included on factors affecting the uptake, metabolism, and excretion of Sr/sup 89/ and Sr/sup 90/; late and chronic effects of radiostrontium; carcinogenic effects; radiation effects in the skeleton; the effects of calcium levels on strontium distribution and excretion; the comparative dosimetry of Sr/sup 90/ and radium; and the turnover and mechanism of fixation of strontium. 94 references.
