A 200-Mw(e) BOILER-SUPERHEATER REACTOR PRELIMINARY DESIGN

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4117960
A 200-Mw(e) nuclear-superheater reactor is described which is of the integral type; i.e., the formation of steam and the superheating of the steam are both accomplished within a single reactor core. Steam leaves the reactor at 1200 psig and 1050 deg F. With feedwater returned to the reactor at 450 deg F, the gross cycle efficiency is estimated to be 38.6%, requiring 352 Mw to be added during boiling and 166 Mw during superheating. (W.D.M.)
