The effect of magnetic rare earth ions on the hyperfine fields in intermetallic compounds with manganese was investigated by comparing the measured hyperfine fields in the asymmetric hexagonal Laves phase compounds ErMn2 and TmMn2 with the hyperfine fields in ScMn2, which is very similar, but does not have the incomplete 4f shell of the rare earths.
