The Texas A&M University Nuclear Science Center Reactor (NSCR) is a pool-type reactor that currently operates with 90 TRIGA FLIP fuel elements cooled by natural convection at a maximum steady-state power level of 1.0 MW. Analyses were performed to determine if the NSCR could safely operate with a maximum steady-state power level of 1.49 MW using the current reactor control and coolant systems.
