ABS>An apparatus for indicating the position of a reactor control rod attached to a cable wound spirally on a drum is designed comprising a Magslip type electric receiver and transmitter with a pinion on its shaft engaging a rack on a carriage, the carriage in turn engaging the thread of a screw which is driven through bevel gears by the winding drum. The pitch of the screw is varied progressively so that the carriage movement is directly proportional to the control rod movement and a linear scale can be used on the Magslip receiver. (D.L.C.)
