ELASTIC SCATTERING OF DEUTERONS BY DEUTERONS AT 25.3 Mev
The differential cross section for elastic scattering of 25.3-Mev deuterons by deuterons was measured for centerof-mass scattering angles between 13.95 and 97.4 deg . Elastically scattered deuterons were detected with a counter telescope used in conjunction with a particle identnfication circuit to provide the necessary separation of proton, deuteron, and triton pulse-height spectra. In this arrangement He/sup 3/ particles were not recorded. Measurements were repeated for a group of center-of-mass scattering angles smaller than 33 deg using a single scintillator. In this case aluminum absorbers were used to obtain the separation of the group of elastically scattered deuterons from the He/sup 3/ and triton groups. The angular distribution does not show a Coulomb-nuclear interference miminum the the region of small angles. A small relative maximum in the cross section arises around 90 deg . (auth)
