Specific heat of yttrium, lanthanum, and praseodymium at high temperatures

Results of the experimental investigation of the specific heat of lanthanum and praseodymium in the temperature range 1200 to 1600$sup 0$K are reported. These results have been obtained based on the use of one of the varieties of regular thermal regimes of the third kind, the method of radial temperature waves, for studying a group of thermal properties (specific heat, thermal diffusivity, and thermal conductivity) of metals in the solid and liquid state. The high-temperature values of the specific heat of solid lanthanum, praseodymium, and yttrium have been analyzed from the point of view of existing approaches in the theory of specific heats. The anomalously large values of the specific heat at constant pressure for the elements of the lanthanum series are due to the large contribution of electrons. (AIP)
