SUPER HIGH FREQUENCY PULSE DISCHARGE IN LONG TUBES (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zh. Tekhn. Fiz.
OSTI ID:4116416
Results are given from experiments carried out with 9470 Mc discharges in hydrogen in long tubes. There are two high frequency discharge stages, a normal and an abnormal running discharge. The normal discharge is developed instantaneously along the length of the tube, and in the case of a waveguide with plasma, the wave expands. Anomalous high-frequency discharge expands in the direction of the super-high frequency wave at a rate of 10/sup 7/ to 10/sup 8/ cm/ sec. The wave length in abnormal discharge is shorter, indicating the electron concentration exceeds the critical. The transverse electromagnetic wave transforms partially into a surface wave. (tr-auth)
