In Ref. 1 we described the use of the diagonal plane sweeping algorithm to solve the first-order form of the neutral particle transport equation on a massively parallel single-instruction, multiple-data (SIMD) machine (i.e., a Thinking Machines Corporation CM-200). By using the diagonal plane sweeping algorithm, we were able to successfully parallelize the direct inversion of the transport operator. The purpose of this paper is to describe the implementation and performance of the diagonal plane sweeping algorithm on the CRI T3D recently acquired here at Los Alamos National Laboratory and to show how, by taking advantage of the T3D`s single-program, multiple-data (SPMD) architecture, we are able to improve the algorithm`s parallelization.
