CALCULATION OF THERMODYNAMIC SYSTEMS AND OPTIMALIZATION OF GAS TEMPERATURE FOR GAS COOLED NUCLEAR REACTORS. Thesis

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:4114644
The determination of optimum coolant entrance and exit temperatures plays an important role in the design of gascooled power reactors. This optimization was calculated for two types of gas-cooled reactors, a Calder Hall reactor with cylindrical fuel elements and a high-temperature BBC-Krupp-type reactor. Various types of secondary systems are used for these calculations. The results indicate that small deviations from the optimum values have practically no influence on the kwh costs. (Gmelin Inst.)
