THE DYNAMICS OF PATHOHISTOLOGICAL CHANGES IN THE RETINA OF THE EYE IN EXPERIMENTAL ACUTE RADIATION SICKNESS

Journal Article · · Tr. Smolensk. Med. Inst.
OSTI ID:4113154
Histological changes in the retina after single wholebody irradiation of rabbits with Co/sup 60/ in doses of 1000 and 1500 r, and guinea pigs, in doses of 400 r develop rapidly, although they are of a limited nature, they affect the major structures of different cells of the ganglion layer and certain axons of the layer of nerve fibers, and also a number of elements of the internal and external nuclear layers. The changes indicated are not specific, although the extent of degeneration in the ganglion cells is connected with the duration of the disease. (Referativnyy Zhurnal, Biologiya, No. 15, Aug. 1963)
