Unitarity effects in pion-production isobar amplitudes

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D, v. 12, no. 7, pp. 1984-1991
In isobar analyses, the amplitude for particle + particle $Yields$ particle + isobar usually is taken to be independent of the mass of the isobar, but Aaron and Amado have shown this approximation to be inconsistent with unitarity. Here we continue that work by calculating numerically the absorptive (mass-dependent) part of isobar amplitudes in the case of $pi$N $Yields$ $pi$$pi$N by using the recent world analysis of 200 000 resonance region events. We find large effects. (AIP)
