The best method available for dosimetry of neutrons is considered the use of nuclear emulsions. This is especially true for mixed radiation. For the trace counting method a relationship between the measurement of the dose in rem units and the determination of the neutron flux density can be established according to the investigations of Snyder and Neufeld. In the case of fast neutrons the traces of the recoil protons are counted. The limitations of this method with regard to their dependence on the neutron energy are discussed. Slow neutrons are absorbed in B or Li nuclei and the subsequent alpha traces are counted. The borated Agfa K3-emulsion was especially investigated. A modified film dosimeter (badge type) is suggested, which permits an observation with respect to fast and slow neutrons as well as gamma rays. (auth)
