The numerical calculation of the equations of motion of particles emitted at a point of the horizontal field and at points outside this plane gave point by point the trajectories of various beams. From the determination of the beam trajectories, the impact figures on the various reception planes were constructed. The method used for the study of the impact figures is given in detail. Analytical expressions for the spectra, the transmission, and the resolving power were derived s functions of the parameter, k, the diaphragms, the window length, and the reception plane chosen. It was determined that the spectra cna be recorded with a constant or variable field. The fixed-field method necessitates the utilization of trajectories toward the in-terior of the system. The classical method permits the utilization of trajectories drawn toward the exterior of the system or around the mean direction u = 0 deg . (J.S.R.)
