COMBINATION OF TWO BENT-CRYSTAL MONOCHROMATORS FOR PRECISION WORK ON SCATTERING AND DIFFRACTION. Technical Report No. 20

ABS>An experimental arrangement that uses two bent-crystal monochromators in transmission rather than in reflection to reduce background scattering, virtually eliminate parasitic scattering beyond an angle of about 10' of arc, and to minimize the thermal diffuse scattering near the Bragg angle without using narrow slits is described. An x-raydiffraction pattern for anthracene shows minimal background blackening of the film. (D.C.W.)
