Experiments for determination of the optimal pickling conditions for the jacket material ZrNb 1 with regard to the chemical composition of the pickling bath, pickling temperature, and sample motion are described. The hydrofluoric acid concentration was determined at constant temperature in essentially the velocity of dissolution, for the concentration had relatively little influence on nitric acid. The pickling bath is subject to strong exhaustion; therefore regular analytical control and regeneration is necessary. The possibility of the appearance of pickling errors in the pickling of mobile sheet samples is discussed. (tr-auth)
