ISOTOPIC COMPOSITION OF SILVER IN AN IRON METEORITE

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters

The isotopic composition of silver in the troilite of the Toluca iron meteorite was determined mass spectrometrically and the Ag/sup 107//Ag/sup 109/ ratio found to be 1.097 plus or minus corresponding to a Ag/sup 107/ enrichment of approximately 2% relative to terrestrial silver. The excess Ag/sup 107/ result is discussed in terms of Pd/sup 107/ decay, and the time interval between the end of nucleosynthesis and the iron meteorite formation is calculated with the "sudden synthesis" model.
